El Under is an experimental documentary photo series on the queer rave scene in Buenos Aires, between 2021 and 2023. These images were captured in the lead-up to the election of Javier Milei, a far-right president who has openly opposed trans and gay rights in Argentina. El Under evokes a sense of urgent hedonism - a final grasp at community, before the country faced a rise in extremism which actively threatens the lives of those who build, participate, and uphold underground queer spaces. The subjects in this series are not only dignified and resilient, but also exhibit a withstanding commitment to their right to experience queer joy and pleasure on their own terms.

Lara (b.1997, New Haven, CT) Photographs the overlooked and transient—vagrants, fleeting communities, and queer spaces on the edge of visibility. In Argentina, they documented their father's farm and the wild pulse of Buenos Aires queer raves during Milei's rise in 2023. Now based in Queens, they stage guerrilla art shows in U-Hauls, laundromats, and empty apartments, creating improvised spaces where intimacy, risk, and creativity collide. They are represented by Eureka! Press in Kingston, NY.
